It was the last match of the 5 ODI series held on South Africa. The series was on a cornerstone of 2-2. With an extraordinary batting performance of 164 runs by Ricky Ponting, Australia managed to set the massive total of 435. This was the first time, the team had ever scored 400 run or more in ODI cricket.
But, this was not the end and South African chased the score of 435 getting 438-9 with 1 ball remaining. Herschelle Gibbs scored massive 175 runs just of 111 balls. This is the only chase of more than 400 runs in ODI cricket.
