To the muppet who left a comment on december 2
1. Your a idiot.

LEARN YOUR FACTS... England and Australia where the best cricket nations back then, when he played against India, south africa and the west indies he averaged 201, 174 and 74. If he had more opportunity to play against these contries i'm sure he would have scored more.
When you look at sachins stats (they are amazing don't get me wrong) he has played 122 more tests so his runs are always going to be better... Read this and learn,

hey u all i wanna say that in bradman time format of cricket was quit easy than now coz at that time there was no third umpire and all decisions went in batsman favor..and now one has to be prepared for all formats of cricket weather test.oneday or t20...and ya definetly sachin has played for 21 yrs which is appreciable and if any budy says that if bradmab played for so long and in sachin"s era he would have done much better then he will be stupid...coz bradman has played only 52 matchs thats it...nd no budy has balls to play so long...and deffinetly if he played so long...his average would have been down...so...SACHIN IS GOD OF CRICKET...AND NO ONE CAN COMPARE HIM FROM ANY BODY EVEN WITH BRADMAN

Anonymous said...

You all are wrong. Best is Sanath Jayasuriya. Not only batting, amazing bowling and fantastic fielding.

sachin is the best of all time just bcoz back in bradman's time the amount of cricket played was much less & the amount of pressure of expectation he carried in those times is no where close to what sachin has on his shoulders since the last 20 yrs or so & hasn't he done well .......to play both the formats of cricket for so long and still have a average of over 45 in odi's & 56 in test means somethin....moreover after the initial stages of his odi career he has opened the innings & faced the new ball in odi's & has scored 97 international centuries ...come guyz to have such a record means somethin...n without a doubt he s the best of all time till date n no 1 is close to him at this moment........guyz lets cheer for india in the wc ....i guess the only sachin is missin ...is the world cup....

Doubt if Don Bradman could have had the same average if he plays as much as or as frequent as sachin. The longevity, fitness, form is just mind boggling. Bradman's average is unrealistic so is sachin's longevity and the form he showed for 21 years and he is still going strong. It's time that he is atleast considered on par with Bradman if not above him.

Unknown said...

i agree with that list but all those who said that donny was better than sachin just look at all the records that sachin has made.

Bradman Wins said...

Anyone here saying that Bradman is not the #1 cricketer in the world is kidding themselves. No single player has ever left such a mark on the game as him. Because of the wars he was restricted so much more than any of the other greats of cricket. He also never really played the minor continents that struggled at cricket, just as we see Murali doing in this present day to get more wickets then Warne. Sachin and Richards are great, but Bradman is single handedly the greatest cricketer the world will ever see. 99.94, Sachin can read it and weep.

Anonymous said...

I am not sure how pple can call Bradman the best??... he is surely in the league of his own... n probably the bravest of them all... but he played in an era w/o strategies... the only strategy was bodyline bowling... also an era with no spinners and no world teams... on pitches that cannot be compared to the pitches of 70s-90s or the pitches of today... pitches these days especially in the Indian subcontinent benefit the batsman... but Sachin played in the 90s... home and away and yet managed to break records... of course Bradman is a legend but it is wrong to compare batsmen of yesteryears with the competitive sport that is played today... batsmen in Bradman era did average in the 60s... but yes, Bradman beat 'em all... but there was barely any fielding strategy or Jonty type efforts... it is only white propaganda of downplaying Sachin or Lara... both in my opinion deserve better marks... n Ponting has records... but is not a delight to watch as much as Sachin, Lara, Mark Waugh, Viv Richards or other legends... hence Ponting is a straight no in y opinion...

Bradman is very easily the best of all time, if he played as many games and innings as Tendulkar has Bradman would have over 150 TEST match centuries to his name

The batsman having highest average next to the Don was just 50+ compared to 99.94...in sachin's case, even Kallis avg is MORE in tests than sachin...sachin has played max matches for the records..not like the Don in very few matches...it is a SIN comparing the two...!

Anonymous said...

b4 accepting the truth, it is essential to keep aside personal bias...comparing sachin with Bradman and saying he is better is mockery of cricket...!

inefekt said...

Why am I not surprised that an Indian website lists Sachin as the greatest batsman ever even though there is a veritable statistical gulf between him and Bradman. It is sheer lunacy and blind devotion to their fellow countryman that Indians place Sachin above Bradman while most sane, intelligent analysts have absolutely no hesitation in putting Bradman at the top of their lists.
Bradman averaged 110 in his final year of test cricket at aged FORTY. Bradman averaged 110 in nearly 100 innings in Sheffield Shield cricket.
Bradman scored multiple triple and quadruple centuries in first class and test cricket, Sachin has ZERO scores above 300 in any form of cricket.
Bradman missed 7 years of test cricket due to WW2, his peak years as a batsman were tragically lost. He would have made 15000 plus runs at well over 100 had it not been for these lost years. As it stands, even without these 'lost years' his test record is incomparable and defies belief.
Indian fans, take off your blinkers, Sachin cannot compare to the likes of Sobers let alone Bradman.

Bradman is easily the best batsmen of all time. It's not negotiable. His average is 99.94 compared to Sachin's 56.

A better discussion would be why is Kallis so low on this list when he has an average of 57 compared to Tendulkar's 56? Kallis has the highest average of this cricket generation, he just doesn't have the media attention he deserves.

Bradman played max against england.
Sachin is threat to any oposition thru out d world.

Did bradman or ponting face-
Mcgra, lee, gilespee, WARNE.?
Sachin dominated d records against australia..!!!!!

SACHIN is d only batsman in d history from whom crowd expects a 100 every time he bats.

I feel that all of u have little knowledge that bradman averages 95.14 in first class cricket and has played 238 first class matches over a span of 20 years from 1928-1948. This is almost equal to sachin's no. Of matches ...
While sachin averages a meagre 59 before him ... Don has 117 hndreds to is name while the master has only 77 if sachin had to face extrodinary bowling attacks and great fielding than don had to face bodyline bouncers and battled poor health throughout his career ..........
I am an indian guys and undoutably sachin is my god ...
But don has proven that he is simply the best .........

Jack Hobbs should be higher up the list. He has scored more FIRST CLASS runs and centuries than anyone else. Also, to Ajinkya, if Sachin is expected to get 100 every time he bats, how come his average is 56 compared to Bradman 99.94? I think average is the best statistic in working out the best batsman, because people like Bradman and Hobbs haven't played as many matches as Tendulkar. And how could Ponting play against McGrath, Warne and Lee if he was in the same team as them?

Mr.A said...

@david,
look dude i agree don bradman has got an amazing avg but having an avg like by playing so less no of games(compared to sachin) and that too only in test is not that great.u have to be consistent and and must be able to keep up that avg even after playing so many games.as far as the best batsman of all time is concerned you have to be the best in all formats of the game(not just test).
so undoubtedly SACHIN is the best

jaja said...

I cab't believe this. You are all saying that Tendulkar is better because he scored more runs and that Bradman is inconsistent. Tendulkur never played on a bad wicket and has played way more tests

RJ said...

Is tendulkar a match winner...he is not that lik bradman....Ten has figures,records...what else...donald brad played 234 FA test match.he secured 117 centuries having average 95.14..which is close to his international test avg..it proofs that if don plays more match than 5,it could be 100 or 150,he can maintain his devastating avg...so don is really THE DON of cricket...

All these people saying that Bradman should be number one need to take into account how cricket has changed since those times. Its much harder to face modern day bowlers and bats barely change over the decades (i mean how much can you engineer a piecce of wood) fielding has significantly improved and people are willing to take more risks due to introduction of more safety gears (helmets - silly point) Additionally sachin tendulkar has faced a much greater variety of bowlers seeming as cricket is WAY more international than it used to be, I think as time goes on it becomes more difficult to be sucessful as a batsman. Also for anyone who does not know much about maths, its more likely you are going to have a higher average if you play less matches (that are against the same teams and bowling style); you divide by less.
Sachin has also been accomplished in more fronts of cricket, including IPL, ODI and Tests! Its unfortunate that Bradman was born at the wrong time because its almost uncomparable to modern day cricket, i would have loved to see him face a modern team though :P

No. Total wrong ranking. Don Bradman is no.1 of all times. Reason is his batting average of 99.96. 2nd one is graeme pollock with average of 60.

Bradman easily number 1 of all time. Anyone who says otherwise has a serious complex. Sachin lucky to beat out Jacques Kallis in any all time list, much less some of the other greats. His average is 56 and that's over many, many test matches so a fair average. He is also in a fortunate era where he can play Bangladesh & Zimbabwe (3 centuries against each including his highest test score of 248). Find me a non-Indian who says any other batter is better than Bradman and I'll find you a goose that can lay golden eggs.

Sir Donald Bradman cannot be referred as the greatest batsman of all time...
because there was no limitations of overs n days in Bradman's era

When you look at the overall record of a player, in the era he played, there is no one that compares to Sir Don Bradman. Even Sachin Tendulkar rates him as the best batsmen of all time. To our friends on the sub-continent, please take off your rose-coloured glasses and remove you bias! Then again we are comparing chalk and cheese, modern era vs pre and post war. Sachin would have to be the best player of the modern era. But overall Bradman takes the cake, with an average of 99.94 - 150% (39 runs) better than any other test player.

Sachin played 20+ years of cricket including Tests/One-days/T20 etc. and carried the hopes of many successfully so far. He is not just a batsman, he is a reasonable bowler who got 150+ wickets in bag. Any batsman can be considered as Best..based on longevity, ability and deliver-ability. So guys kindly don't compare Sachin with anyone....Some people says Sachin is not a match winner, never plays well in second innings or finals etc. All these are false statements. Sachin is the all time best batsman.
If you compare him with modern greats like Lara, Ponting, Kallis sachin emerges as the winner coz he averages more than 56 from 180 matches in test and 45 from 400+ matches in ODI.
Also Sachin is consistent for over 20 years. He has every stroke in his armour. No one among these greats can adapt and change his game according to the situation as beautifully as Sachin does.Sachin was troubled by many career threatening injuries but still he came back very strongly.
You should not be comparing persons from two different era.Even if you compare bradman with sachin, Sachin has the upperhand for two simple reasons 1) The amount of cricket played by Sachin 2)The number and quality of opponents faced by Sachin and also Sachin has performed well in all formats of the game and in all conditions.
Sachin is perfect balance of aggression and defence.

Undoubtedly it’s Don Bradman but as per the modernization of the game my number one will be Jacques Kallis. Surely the great batman of new era. Rahul Dravid is far better then Sachin Tendulkar. Because he does not play for endorsements.

It's hard to compare between 'The Don' and 'the little master' but saying that Bradman didn't play as much cricket is simply untrue. In Bradmans time Australia would go to England for 18 months with a huge boat ride in between. Along the way they would play cricket and when they were in England there was a game scheduled everyday. The 1948 tour was shorter than most due to faster ships but it still went for 144 days with 31 First Class matches being played and an Ashes series. Talking about his form not being consistent is true, but all batsmen go through the cycle. Just look at Tendulkars 2011-12 tour form (where they lost the #1 spot to England and lost 4-0 to Australia.) Tendulkar really only performs in India, and the Rest of the subcontinent. But you can't really judge two players from completely different eras. It's like comparing Richie McCaw to Colin Meads. (they're All Blacks from the professional (1996-present) and amateur (1902-1994) eras, respectively, of rugby if you didnt already know. Just using the most successful international sporting team in history as an example.)

RAHUL DRAVID is the best. sachin doesn't have technique and never played in pressure and tough conditions.

where is sourav ganguly?he is the best player after sachin tendulkar.....

Sir Don Bradman fulfills the first top 10 places then others. Even if we calculate the average of top innings of Sachin and Sir Bradman top innings. Bradman is miles far away from sachin.

SIR SACHIN TENDULKAR PLAYED BOTH ODI AND TEST CRICKET. AND HIS CAREER CONSISTED OF LOTS OF RUNS AND EVEN 154 WICKETS IN ODI. I NEVER SAW SIR DON. WE CAN'T COMPARE THE TWO. BUT IT IS QUITE CLEAR THAT IF SACHIN IS NOT THE BEST THEN NONE OTHER CAN BE THE BEST.

Don't talk always about only average of just 59 test matches by don and that to at that time no one is best bowlers and fielding too.But where as sachin faced almost all best bowlers in cricket history.
. SACHIN Is A Bateman"THE GOD in the cricket " who has a record number of records.
. no in the world can't cross the records made by him at present and in future also.
. he has huge 100 international centuries (51 in tests and 49 in onedays).
. SACHIN in the best batsman forever in the cricket history.

With all due respect to Don, Sachin is still the "best proven". I am not saying that Don could not have done well in today's world. In fact, we should not talk about something that has not happened and something that can only be imagined. The point is that Sir Don has done very good with whatever he got. However, unfortunately he did not get the chance to play much (the reasons can be any). The amount Don played and variety of teams he played against is unfortunately not upto the mark of comparison with Sachin. On the other hand those who have played, are nowhere near Sachin.
Lets say, I play one match and score a hundred. Does that mean that I am better than Don?...Answer is "no way"....similary if I play 2 matches and score 160. Does this mean that I am better than Sachin as my Average is 80. Answer again is "no way". So, there has to be a good number of matches played for comparison. I would not even compare Sachin to someone who might play over 1000 matches. The reason is that Sachin's matches would be a way less. Thus looking at good number of matches and amount of cricket...Sachin is the best uptill now. Sir Don may or may not have done this.

If Barry Richards had been able to play a full Test career, his statistics would have been awesome. The most complete batsman I ever saw.

Whoa! Bradman after Sachin?!? Average of 99 is easy to say. No doubt Sachin is an extraordinary batsman but, after Sir Don Bradman.
